Wiviott Reports Over $430,000 Cash-on-Hand for First Quarter
Santa Fe, NM – Today the Don Wiviott campaign reported a strong showing of over $430,000 cash-on-hand for the end of the first quarter. Raising roughly five times the amount from the previous quarter, Wiviott had $433,375 cash-on-hand as of March 31, 2008.
"I have been touched by the outpouring of support from New Mexicans who believe in our campaign and want to join us in this important effort to bring change to Washington," Wiviott said. "People recognize the stakes are high in this election and that it is time to start working together to produce the results we need to move our country forward."
Upholding his pledge to not take any money from corporate PAC's or lobbyists, nearly 60 percent of Wiviott's contributions came from small time donors who gave $200 or less. Moreover, roughly three-quarters of the campaign's contributions came from within the state, another sign of Wiviott's growing support throughout New Mexico.
With just seven weeks left until the June 3rd Primary, the Wiviott campaign is building a strong organization and continuing to reach out to voters on the most pressing issues facing the state and country. From ending the war in Iraq to providing affordable and quality health care to every American, Wiviott's call to reform the system and deliver results is helping to drive the debate forward in New Mexico.
Today’s announcement comes on the heels of the campaign’s growing momentum, as recent polling suggests Wiviott is surging in the polls and his message of change is resonating strongly with voters.
